I have known Matt for over ten years and have been married to him over nine. After all of the years, Army schools, deployments throughout Asia and the middle-east, this is the first Christmas we have had to spend apart.
Allie and I are blessed to have spent Christmas with my parents, sister, grandmother and aunts and uncles but it just wasn’t the same without Matt.
Matt described Christmas as “just another day” and/or “groundhog’s day”. He said he had a secret Santa party at his office but that besides that, Christmas was uneventful for him. He got an AAFES gift card at his party (which is the only place he can buy stuff in Iraq) but the holiday seemed to pass for him without too much excitement. I’d like to thank each of you that took the time to send him Christmas gifts and cards. Those little pieces of home meant a lot to him.
Having said that, I”m afraid that I wasn’t very good at taking pictures on Christmas. Allie’s Christmas outfit was too big, she was having a crazy hair day and I was busy taking care of a child that hadn’t napped since early morning. (Is Matt in for a rude awakening when he gets home or what?) I’m sure that Stevie and Bobbie or Aunt Kathy might have gotten some good pictures and I’ll post them when I get them. For now, I’ll post what I have for Matt.

Hopefully he will be home next year.
I thought Allie looked cute in her dress . . .
